An idea born from flavor: Wings for All

An idea born from flavor: Wings for All

Meri’s business idea was born from a real community need — the lack of fresh, chemical-free vegetables in Tatev.

“Even though there were many importers of greens and vegetables from Yerevan, the problem was taste and freshness,” Meri recalls.

This sparked the idea of creating a greenhouse that would provide local, clean produce, not only for the village but also for neighboring communities.

At first, it wasn’t easy. They had a semi-built greenhouse, a temporary cover, and heating issues. Yet even under these conditions, their produce began to gain recognition for its flavor, earning demand in neighboring villages and towns.

“When we took our products to the market in Goris, even the resellers talked about the taste of our vegetables,” Meri remembers.

After learning online about the “Wings for All” program by the We Are Our Mountains Development Agency, she decided to participate.

The program changed everything. Over six months, Meri and her family, with the support of experts from Innobiz NGO, not only developed their idea but transformed their business mindset.

“Before the program, we thought we knew everything… but during the training, we realized how much we still needed to learn,” she admits.

With mentor support, Meri developed a competitive business model based on market research, calculations, and sustainable growth planning.

The grant received through “Wings for All” will solve key production challenges, providing a durable greenhouse cover and heating system.

“Before, I imagined this work as simply sowing seeds and getting a harvest. During the program, I understood that everything must be carefully calculated and properly managed,” the entrepreneur explains.

Meri now plans to equip the greenhouse with innovative solutions, like a hydroponic system, and start cultivating new crops — even the so-called “Armenian lemon.”

“My excitement is huge now,” says Meri, confident that this is no longer just an experiment, but the beginning of a sustainable family business.

This investment creates multiple impacts:
✔ Local production
✔ Creation of new jobs
✔ Accessible, high-quality food for the community
✔ Long-term sustainable business

The program is implemented with a grant from the H. Hovnanian Family Foundation.

Meri and seven other beneficiaries received grants with the financial support of the ACBA Federation, implemented by the We Are Our Mountains Development Agency in collaboration with Innobiz NGO and the Tatev Community Center.
