Residents of the rural communities of the Martuni, Martakert, and Askeran regions of the Republic of Artsakh will have the opportunity to use mobile primary health care services.
Initiated by the “We Are Our Mountains” territorial development agency, a program providing access to primary health care mobile services in the rural areas of three regions of Artsakh has been launched. The main partners are the “HENAR” charitable foundation and the “Santé Arménie” association. The program is implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Artsakh.
The goal of the project is to render primary health care services more accessible in rural areas through the launch of mobile medical brigades.
According to the agreement already established with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Artsakh, the mobile medical brigade will start its work in the Martuni region. According to the schedule determined by the Ministry of Health, the vehicle equipped with all necessary medical equipment will travel in the communities starting on May 3 and provide much-needed services to the residents.
The family doctors included in the program underwent special professional training between January and April 2023. The tour will specifically provide therapeutic services and general screening examinations, as well as carry out detection, management, and control of the most common infectious and non-infectious diseases. In addition, thanks to the modern equipment installed in the mobile brigades, it will be possible to provide additional medical services to the population, including laboratory tests.
“Implementation of this project is very important for the population of Artsakh, especially in the regions and remote communities. Now, when obtaining fuel has become more difficult due to the blockade and it is more difficult to reach Stepanakert, the launch of such a brigade solves a very serious social problem. The car is equipped with quality equipment and capable of providing high-quality services. We are grateful to the Artsakh Ministry of Health and our partners, “HENAR” Foundation and “Santé Arménie,” for implementing this initiative and standing with the people of Artsakh,” said Armen Mangasaryan, head of social programs for the “We Are Our Mountains” territorial development agency.
“The main objective for the activities of the ‘HENAR’ Foundation is reform of primary health care. We are sure that thanks to this program, our compatriots in Artsakh will receive the highest quality medical care, which will significantly improve the quality of their lives,” said Elena Abovyan, executive director of the “HENAR” Foundation.
“The goal of this project is for the vulnerable populations living in difficult conditions from a security perspective not to have to regularly visit the city, but to have the opportunity to receive proper treatment from a trained doctor,” said Dr. Tatevik Bazinyan, a member of the “Santé Arménie” initiative.
During the first year of the project’s implementation, the organizers aim to fully integrate the mobile brigades into the healthcare system of Artsakh and continue the operation of the brigades with co-financing from the Ministry of Health.
The “We Are Our Mountains” territorial development agency undertakes and implements development projects in Artsakh and Syunik in cooperation with the governments of the Republic of Artsakh and the Republic of Armenia, as well as other local, international, and private organizations.
