The works of the establishment of a new orchard in the vicinity of Tatev Monastery have started. The charity project for the creation of the park is led by the “We are Our Mountains” development agency founded by Ruben Vardanyan, with the participation and support of his colleagues, associates, and numerous individuals. In addition to fruit trees, a sycamore tree will be planted in the garden standing as symbol of faith, hope and permanence of our people.
“Today, as our founder, Ruben Vardanyan, is imprisoned in Baku, it is more than important to continue his legacy and implement his vision. Creating a garden for Vardanyan has always been a symbol of creating good, a new beginning, and it is for this reason that we embarked on this project. We recognize the significance of broad participation, as this is not only about establishing a garden and planting trees, but also about expressing our support to Ruben Vardanyan, who is illegally held in Baku, and all our other compatriots,” said the executive director of the “We are Our Mountains” development agency Grigory Martirosyan.
The planting of fruit trees will be an ongoing project throughout the month of April inviting everyone to participate in the program by visiting the agency’s website and purchasing their name tree by clicking the “Plant a Tree” button. Participants can also attend the opening ceremony of the garden in May, when the plane tree, known as the Tree of Life, will be planted.
The garden will be drip irrigated and maintained with the involvement of local residents. The proceeds generated from the initiative will be channeled towards the development of the Tatev community.
