The “We аre Օur Mountains” Development Agency and the Howard Karagozian Medical Charitable Foundation provided tablets to 23 participants of the “Born in Artsakh” educational program to expand their learning opportunities and ensure access to comprehensive musical education.
The 5-year “Born in Artsakh” educational program was initiated by Sergey Smbatyan, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra. The program, implemented by the “Arvest23” NGO, aims to ensure the professional education of talented musicians forcibly displaced from Artsakh by providing necessary resources. Master classes and foreign language training sessions have already begun within the framework of the program.
“For many, tablets are not only educational tools but also an opportunity to continue their studies online, as some of them live outside Yerevan or far from the city center,” noted Anna Ter-Hovakimyan, President of the “Arvest23” NGO.
The Howard Karagozian Foundation has joined the initiative, emphasizing the importance of not only children’s physical but also mental health. “Music is a form of therapy that can help children overcome the difficulties in their lives,” emphasized Irina Lazaryan, a representative of the Foundation.
The “We are Our Mountains” Development Agency continues to work on acquiring necessary musical instruments for program participants, as many of them lost their instruments as a result of forced displacement from Artsakh.
“Music is a voice that cannot be silenced, and we are happy that through this program, talented musicians from Artsakh will continue to sound the voice of Artsakh,” said Narine Aghabalyan, Deputy Director of the “We are Our Mountains” Development Agency. She expressed hope that many people would lend their support to the implementation of this important initiative.
The 23 participants of the “Born in Artsakh” program were selected through competitive auditions. The program gives them the opportunity not only to grow as artists but also to tell about the cultural heritage of their homeland, Artsakh, through music.
