About 160 residents of rural communities in Martuni region have used mobile primary medical care services. A second mobile brigade will be launched.

About 160 residents of the Murishen, Karmir Shuka, Haghorti, Berdashen, and Sos rural communities in Martuni region had the opportunity to use mobile primary medical care services within the framework of the health program launched in Artsakh by the “We Are Our Mountains” territorial development agency about a month ago.

The medical mobile brigade, composed of family doctors with special professional training, visited the communities in a car equipped with modern equipment and provided therapeutic services to the residents on the spot. It also carried out general screening and laboratory tests, as well as detection, management, and control of the most common infectious and non-infectious diseases.

The main partners of this “We Are Our Mountains” agency project are the “HENAR” charitable foundation operating in the health sector and the “Santé Arménie” association. The program is implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Artsakh.

“The program has been implemented for just over a month, but it has already recorded tangible results. It was developed during the blockade, when the fuel problem was particularly acute and the residents of our communities did not have the opportunity to reach Stepanakert for primary medical services every time. We closely cooperate with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Artsakh. The mobile brigade carries out visits according to the schedule drafted by the Ministry. Taking into account the effectiveness of and positive response to the project, the “We Are Our Mountains” agency, with the support of its donors, plans to launch a second mobile brigade in July, which will provide services in other regions as well,” said Armen Mangasaryan, director of social programs of the “We Are Our Mountains” territorial development agency.

“During this time, we have provided more general therapeutic services, carried out examinations of the cardiovascular system, and offered counseling and medical care. One more new mobile brigade will help us provide a larger volume of services, which in this situation is of vital importance for our rural population,” noted mobile brigade doctor Aram Gevorgyan.

“The first mobile brigade kicked off in five communities of Martuni. Visits took place every day for about a month, and it is clear that the population has a great need for this type of service. The car is equipped with modern equipment, which allows us to provide appropriate medical care on the spot. We are glad to be able to participate in this important project and provide tangible support to this population facing the difficult situation of the blockade,” said Yuri Asriyan, representative of the “HENAR” foundation in Artsakh.

The “We Are Our Mountains” territorial development agency undertakes and implements development projects in Artsakh and Syunik in cooperation with the governments of the Republic of Artsakh and the Republic of Armenia, as well as other local, international, and private organizations. The “We Are Our Mountains” territorial development agency was founded by Ruben Vardanyan and his colleagues.
