The children of Artsakh will receive the gifts intended for the New Year on Easter

In the week following Palm Sunday and the blessing of children, about 12,500 children of the Republic of Artsakh will receive gifts from the “We Are Our Mountains” territorial development agency.

The agency initiated the “Gifts for Artsakh Children” program at the end of last year. The gifts were bought with funds donated for that purpose by donors living in different countries around the world before the siege of Artsakh. The presentation of gifts was planned for New Year’s Eve, but due to the blockade that started on December 12, the festive surprise did not happen.

Throughout the months of the blockade, it has been possible to move the gifts stored in Goris to Artsakh in parts. Since April 2, the distribution of packages to the recipients in Stepanakert, as well as in the Martuni, Martakert, and Askeran regions, has already started.

“We and our donors, of course, very much wanted the gifts to reach the children of Artsakh by the New Year, and when the packages were being prepared, no one even thought that we would only be able to distribute them in the spring. But the important thing is that the gifts eventually reached their recipients. Blockaded in Artsakh, when the children are deprived of many opportunities as a number of their vital rights are violated, it is extremely important for us to give them even a small moment of joy,” said Armen Mangasaryan, head of social programs for the “We Are Our Mountains” territorial development agency.

The “We Are Our Mountains” territorial development agency undertakes and implements development projects in Artsakh and Syunik in cooperation with the governments of the Republic of Artsakh and the Republic of Armenia, as well as other local, international, and private organizations. The “We Are Our Mountains” territorial development agency was founded by Ruben Vardanyan and his colleagues.
