EDUCATIONAL ORIENTATION PROGRAM “CAREER NAVIGATOR”

EDUCATIONAL ORIENTATION PROGRAM “CAREER NAVIGATOR”

Discover Yourself. Set the Course. Define the Coordinates of Your Future. Take the Wheel.

Career Navigator is a seven-day career orientation program developed by the We Are Our Mountains Foundation in collaboration with the School of Superheroes educational platform for high school students from Artsakh who found themselves in new life circumstances following forced displacement in September 2023.

The program is designed for 9th–12th grade students who are at a critical crossroads: choosing a future profession in the business field and mapping out an educational path.

Career Navigator offers participants—who have already undergone an initial stage of psychological rehabilitation—an opportunity to make informed career choices, expand their understanding of modern business-related professions, and develop skills in self-discovery, future planning, and basic financial literacy.

Program Relevance

For teenagers who fled Artsakh, choosing a professional path comes with several challenges:

  • Limited access to information about modern professions and educational opportunities;
  • Lack of skills to independently search for and analyze career-related information;
    Absence of career role models and examples of successful professional trajectories in their new reality;
  • Psychological disorientation caused by forced displacement and a shift in cultural and educational context. Career Navigator aims to fill this gap by opening up a wide range of possibilities—some of which participants may have never known existed.

Program Goals

  • Help participants identify their interests, aptitudes, and strengths;
  • Introduce the modern labor market, in-demand professions, and emerging fields in business;
  • Develop decision-making, planning, and self-reflection skills;
  • Build financial literacy and the ability to manage first earnings wisely;
  • Support participants in creating an individual educational and career path;
  • Boost confidence and motivation for learning and personal growth.

Program Structure

  1. Online Intensive (6 hours): Participants will learn how to confidently and responsibly manage their finances, understand budgeting and saving, learn how to use bank cards and online payments, and when it’s appropriate to consider taking out credit.
  2. Offline Training (8 hours): With financial basics in place, participants will dive into career exploration.
  3. Company Visits: Participants will be offered several companies to choose from and visit. Through conversations with professionals, they’ll gain a clearer understanding of future career expectations and the education paths that can take them there.
  4. Final Panel Discussion & Individual Mentoring Sessions: Participants will engage in reflection, receive expert advice, and finalize their personal career strategies with support from mentors.

Expected Outcomes

  • Increased awareness among participants regarding professional choice;
  • Development of individual career roadmaps;
  • Broadened horizons in terms of modern professions and educational opportunities;
  • Understanding of key financial literacy concepts;
  • Acquisition of skills for managing first earnings;
    Increased confidence in personal abilities and future prospects;
  • Strengthened integration of Artsakh teenagers into Armenia’s educational and professional landscape.
